I don’t usually think of fish when it comes to middle eastern food, but this simple recipe delivers spices popular in the area with white fish, like basa, cod or haddock as the stage. It’s a simple, delicious fish recipe you can make any night when you’re low on time.
Keto Crispy Sumac Spiced Fish Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 white fish fillets (around 1-1½ lb total)
- 1 tablespoons avocado oil
- ¼ teaspoon ground turmeric
- ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ¼ teaspoon ground sumac
- Kosher salt, to taste
- 2 lemon wedges, for serving
Directions:
Add avocado oil to a large plate with salt and all the spices. Mix well.
Pat the fish fillets dry with kitchen towel then coat both sides of the fish fillets in the spice mix.
Heat a wide non-stick pan to medium-high heat. Add a splash avocado oil, swirl around then add the fillets, skin side down.
Allow the fish to crisp up by not moving it, then turn down the heat to medium, continuing to cook around 2-3 minutes.
Then flip the fish with a wide spatula and finish cooking another 1-2 minutes, or until crispy and golden on both sides and cooked through. Transfer to a plate and sprinkle with an extra pinch of sumac. Serve with keto tabbouleh, pickled turnips, and/or cauliflower rice, with a squeeze of lemon juice from the lemon wedges overtop.
