Why get store-bought, sugar and preservative laden ketchup when you can easily make your own at home? Then you can tailor the spices to your liking, along with the sweetness using your favourite keto sweeteners. This is my base recipe I like to use.
Homemade Keto Ketchup Recipe
Ingredients:
- 6oz can of tomato paste
- 1 cup water
- 2½ tablespoons granulated erithrytol (or to taste)
- 15 drops liquid stevia (or to taste)
- 3 tablespoons raw cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon fine sea salt (or to taste)
- ¾ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon sweet paprika
- ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
- ⅛ teaspoon ground mustard
Directions:
Whisk all ingredients in a small saucepan until smooth. Bring to a boil over medium heat then cover and reduce to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 30 minutes, or until the ketchup reduces to your desired thickness. (*Time will vary widely depending on the size of your pan.) Stir occasionally while simmering. Taste, and adjust salt and/or sweetener as needed.
Puree the ketchup in a high-powered blender for at least 30 seconds, until smooth. (*Optional, but recommended for best texture.)
