Hot buttered rum is a delicious hot winter drink warms your cockles on a cold winter day. Perfect for the holidays or for warming up in a cabin after skiing or other winter activities. Plus, because it’s inherently fatty, you it’s really only a matter of swapping out the sugar for low-carb sweeteners to make it keto-friendly.
Keto Hot Buttered Rum Mix Recipe
Ingredients:
- ⅓ cup unsalted butter
- ⅓ cup xylitol
- ⅓ cup erithrytol, powdered in a spice/coffee grinder
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon Himalayan pink sea salt
- 1 teaspoon <a href="pure vanilla extract
Directions:
In large pot over medium heat, melt and brown the butter.
Stir in xylitol and erithrytol, allowing to completely dissolved. Remove from heat and whisk in the heavy cream, vanilla, nutmeg, clove and cinnamon. Allow to cool.
Pour mixture into a sealable container and freeze for up to 3 months. Makes around 12-24 servings (depending on how much you use per serving).
To mix the drink: In a coffee mug, add 1-2 tablespoons hot buttered rum mix to 1 ounce dark or spiced rum, then fill cup with boiling water. Stir with a cinnamon stick and top with freshly grated nutmeg. Also delicious in coffee and can be served without rum for kids.
