There are a few good lower carb options with which to replace potatoes to make French fries. Kohlrabi is my top choice, but this baked rutabaga fries recipe probably tastes a little closer to home, but is higher in carbs, which is why it is my second favourite option.

Ingredients:

(*Any seasoning blend you love will also work with this recipe. Try my taco seasoning blend or my everything bagel seasoning blend.)

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400F. In a large bowl, toss the rutabaga sticks with avocado oil, sea salt, and black pepper.

  2. Place rutabaga fries on an oven safe rack onto a large baking sheet. Arrange the fries in a single layer on the rack. Bake for 35-45 minutes, until fries are soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. Serve hot with sugar-free ketchup or homemade avocado oil mayo.
